Hello friends and family,

I hope that you are doing well and enjoying your summer! We are doing good, super busy trying to get ready for our move to San Diego and planning the wedding. We just put in an offer on a home in San Diego, and hoping to be first time home owners by this fall. Wish us luck!

When we first sent out the blog a few months ago, some of you didn't get it due to wrong addresses or lack of, but hope you are able to be informed this time around :) Quick update, some of you have all ready purchased your air fair tickets for the wedding, and that is awesome! It doesn't hurt to start looking and planning now even though the wedding isn't until March 20, 2010. It's exciting hearing from some of you and your travel plans for next winter involving hanging out in Mexico and meeting up for the wedding!

We have officially set a location for the reception. It will be held in the yard at a private beachfront residence where my family will be staying. Lots of open green space and the sand beach at our foot steps. We are getting very excited for the fiesta! By mid August we should decide on a hotel where the rest of us will be staying. We will let you know and make sure that you get in on the discount. Let us know if you are finding your own lodging.

Keep in touch, we hope to continue hearing from you all throughout the summer!

Love,
Liz and Andy

Blogging...

Hey,

So I have received many emails regarding posting on this blog, and I am sorry that you can't post unless you set up a blog too! We didn't really look into that, so sorry for those of you who thought you posted something and then realized you weren't allowed! I will see what I can do. It has been so good to talk to some of you through the phone or email! We will post updates here regarding the wedding planning, and lets keep in touch through the phone or email.

I have really enjoyed talking back and forth with the bridesmaids and I just want to say that you girls are amazing, and I am excited for all of our planning yet to come! I will decide on the shade of Blue, and we will continue the planning as we go! Good thing for a year engagement, we have so much time to plan.

Love,
liz

How We Came to Be...

This is kinda of a funny story, we met at a grocery store, in the produce section...

Andy and I met back in 2002 when we both worked at Haggen on Meridian St. He was the produce boy and I was the front parcel, then checker girl. I was still in my last year in high school and Andy had just graduated from college, and there we were crossing paths in this part-time job at a grocery store, not having any clue that one day we were to date, non the less one day get married!

After two years of friendship which involved traveling for Andy, and starting college for Liz, many adventures and life events filled our lives and led us to different but similar paths. Good thing for phones and email, Andy and I kept in touch always. No matter what. I, living in the dorms having fun in my first year of college while Andy was in Oregon, Costa Rica or Alaska.

From our first date (a run at Lake Padden, with a walk at Bolavard Park), to pen pal relationship, to crossing paths again, we realized not only were our lives and group of friends meshing together all of a sudden (that's B'ham for you), over the years we came from being these strangers to being really amazing friends.  Next thing you know this Andy fellow was more than just some guy I met at Haggen, but this amazing person that I was falling for, and he for me.

We went on a run one day at Lake Whatcom, North Shore trail, and by the end of the 6 mile there and back, we had decided we were officially dating. Who were we kidding, it was time to take the next step. Four years later, here we are....

Andy is the best man I have ever met, he is my sunshine, my wings, and the most positive supporting best friend I have ever had. Thank you for all your love, care and genuine being, and best of all always allowing me to be myself and loving who I am.

La Boda - Spanish for The Boda

Welcome to our wedding website!

We got engaged December 23 2008. Andy had been planning to propose since before my birthday in November, but decided to wait until our trip to Mexico, and his first visit to my family's home in Tacotan, Jalisco, where he finally met my 92 year old grandma.

After a yummy shrimp cocktail, fish tacos, a pina colada and a negra modelo on the beach, Andy and I continued our afternoon with a walk from Melaque to Barra de Navidad. We stopped on the beach to rest and take in the beautiful view of the cove and pelicans flying above our heads. Talking about life and how lucky we were to be there at that moment together, Andy popped the question, and the most natural thing to respond was "are you serious?", and then "well of course, YES!, and then "Did you ask my dad?"... After six years of friendship and 4 years of commitment, the next step felt better than perfect.

Moments after, a man walks by and offers us paletas (ice cream bars), and of course we had to treat ourselves to something sweet! We spent the evening having margaritas and tostadas de ceviche at this cute restaurant on the beach, listening to a live 2 person band playing romantic cover songs with their guitars and keyboard. That's when we decided we wanted to celebrate the union of our marriage and the fiesta with our family and friends, there, in Mexico.

Many of you know that we have decided to get married in Barra de Navidad Jalisco, Mexico. Here we can keep you updated with our wedding plans! You can also keep us updated with your plans and questions, concerns, regarding planning the trip. We are very excited and are looking forward to celebrating this very special moment with those whom have known us throughout our lives. It's a time where we as two individuals not only become a new family, but unite our families together. The Nelsen's and the Castellon's, and yes those life long friends are included in this bonding too. Most importantly this is a time to celebrate love, friendships and commitments. We are happy to have bridesmaids and groomsmen in our wedding ceremony, and want to thank them for being a part of our ceremony!

Hope you are doing well, and please keep us in touch!

Gracias!

Andy and Liz
