We got engaged December 23 2008. Andy had been planning to propose since before my birthday in November, but decided to wait until our trip to Mexico, and his first visit to my family's home in Tacotan, Jalisco, where he finally met my 92 year old grandma.
After a yummy shrimp cocktail, fish tacos, a pina colada and a negra modelo on the beach, Andy and I continued our afternoon with a walk from Melaque to Barra de Navidad. We stopped on the beach to rest and take in the beautiful view of the cove and pelicans flying above our heads. Talking about life and how lucky we were to be there at that moment together, Andy popped the question, and the most natural thing to respond was "are you serious?", and then "well of course, YES!, and then "Did you ask my dad?"... After six years of friendship and 4 years of commitment, the next step felt better than perfect.
Moments after, a man walks by and offers us paletas (ice cream bars), and of course we had to treat ourselves to something sweet! We spent the evening having margaritas and tostadas de ceviche at this cute restaurant on the beach, listening to a live 2 person band playing romantic cover songs with their guitars and keyboard. That's when we decided we wanted to celebrate the union of our marriage and the fiesta with our family and friends, there, in Mexico.
Many of you know that we have decided to get married in Barra de Navidad Jalisco, Mexico. Here we can keep you updated with our wedding plans! You can also keep us updated with your plans and questions, concerns, regarding planning the trip. We are very excited and are looking forward to celebrating this very special moment with those whom have known us throughout our lives. It's a time where we as two individuals not only become a new family, but unite our families together. The Nelsen's and the Castellon's, and yes those life long friends are included in this bonding too. Most importantly this is a time to celebrate love, friendships and commitments. We are happy to have bridesmaids and groomsmen in our wedding ceremony, and want to thank them for being a part of our ceremony!
Hope you are doing well, and please keep us in touch!
Gracias!
Andy and Liz
